Ranking is not for sale
A clinic's position on this page is computed from the four factors below and nothing else. Subscription plan, payment status, advertising, sponsorship, and every other commercial relationship with FairVet are not inputs to it. There is no paid placement here, no promoted slot, and no way to buy one — the same rule that governs the Fair Price Score and the verified badge. Claiming a listing lets a clinic be measured on reviews and quote replies; it never adds points on its own.

How results are ordered
Each factor is scored from 0 to 1 and multiplied by its weight. A factor we hold no data for contributes nothing rather than being guessed at — so a clinic is ranked on what we know about it, and a thin listing reads as thin rather than as bad.
- 40%Fair Price ScoreThe clinic's existing Fair Price Score, out of 100, used as-is. A clinic with no score yet earns nothing here — we never guess one.
- 25%DistanceStraight-line distance, best at the clinic's doorstep and zero at 25 miles out. Where we have no coordinates, a coarser same-ZIP / same-ZIP-area stand-in is used instead of a made-up number.
- 20%Verified bills for this procedureDistinct verified bills we hold for this specific procedure at this specific clinic, credited up to 20. Below 5 bills the figure isn't published or counted at all.
- 15%Review ratingMean star rating from owners who had a real, matched bill from the clinic. Counted only once a clinic has at least 3 reviews.
Unclaimed listings are never left out — they appear in the same ranked list, clearly labelled, scored on Fair Price Score and distance only, since reviews and quote replies both depend on a clinic that has claimed its listing and can respond. Your pet's species narrows which procedures you can search for; it is not a ranking factor, because nothing in our data records which species a clinic treats. Full methodology →
