What does an ear infection usually cost?
An exam, an ear cleaning and dispensed medication are the priced lines. A cleaning is not the whole treatment.
This page describes typical costs. It is not a diagnosis and it does not say what your pet needs. Only a veterinarian who has examined your pet can do that.

What this usually means
An ear infection, often called otitis externa, is inflammation of the outer ear canal. Clinics commonly see head shaking, scratching at the ear or discharge. Allergies, a foreign object, ear mites or trapped moisture can all sit behind it. An exam is how a clinic sorts that out.
FairVet can price a sick exam, an ear cleaning and medication dispensing. An ear cleaning is a line on a bill. It is not the same thing as diagnosing or treating an infection.
Why the bill varies
- A one-time cleaning is a smaller bill than a visit that adds cytology, a recheck and a prescription.
- Chronic ear disease often means more than one visit. Each visit is its own bill.
