What do spay and neuter usually cost?

Dog and cat spays and neuters are four separate price lines.

This page describes typical costs. It is not a diagnosis and it does not say what your pet needs. Only a veterinarian who has examined your pet can do that.

Clinic lists

These metros have their own pages. City prices live on each line's cost guide.

What this usually means

A spay or a neuter is surgery that prevents reproduction. Clinics price a dog spay, a cat spay, a dog neuter and a cat neuter separately, because the procedures differ.

Whether to do the surgery and when to do it are decisions for a veterinarian who knows that pet. This page only shows what those four lines typically cost.

Why the bill varies

  • A cat neuter is usually a smaller procedure than a dog spay. The four lines are not interchangeable.
  • Dog size changes the cost of a dog spay or neuter. In heat, pregnant or cryptorchid surgeries are different procedures and are not broken out here.
