What does a torn CCL usually cost?

X-rays, anesthesia and a pain-management injection are priced. TPLO and lateral suture are not separate price lines yet.

This page describes typical costs. It is not a diagnosis and it does not say what your pet needs. Only a veterinarian who has examined your pet can do that.

Clinic lists

These metros have their own pages. City prices live on each line's cost guide.

What this usually means

The cranial cruciate ligament helps stabilize a dog's knee. When it tears, dogs often limp on a back leg. A veterinarian confirms the injury with an exam and sometimes with X-rays.

Owners often read about a lateral suture or a TPLO. FairVet does not publish a typical price for either surgery, because neither is its own line in the price list. The figures on this page are only the lines we do price. They are not a quote for surgery and they do not say which option a dog needs.

Why the bill varies

  • A surgery bill, when a clinic recommends surgery, usually includes the procedure, anesthesia, pain control and sometimes an overnight stay. Those pieces are priced separately here, so adding them together would not equal a surgery quote.
  • Dog size changes anesthesia cost. It does not, by itself, tell you which repair a clinic will discuss.
